There's a sort of chiming splendour about the music of ABC that still reverberates brightly a decade after their sensational debut album with the lustrous "Lexicon of Love" album. The particular collection, which managed to be both fresh AND lush, set a post-punk production standard that remains one of the '80s most irresistable musical legacies. ABC's subsequent work went on to prove that they were neither a flash in the pan, nor a one trick pony. After "Lexicon's" sweeping brand of technicolour pop/soul, "Beauty Stab" in '83 was a whole other bag. It was harder, it was heavier, it was rock.
