Nothing wrong if you are a fetishistic little kid who buys records for their colour or limitation, rather than the music on it. Which, in this case, is quite lame too.
Sorry but anyone who pays £300 to buy an album and assorted garbage to go with it is nuts anyway.
they did put to much out on vinyl. 300 cassettes
they did a third more variants for this record than that Tiger Army record. 6 for Tiger Army, 9 for At The Drive-In. anybody who thinks 9 variants is not too many or not a cash grab is nuts. what's wrong with exclusives? you really like that Urban Outfitters and Hot Topic sell exclusive variants and charge more for them than almost everywhere else?
Seriously there's 10,000 of the one I paid £300 for as part of the mega bundle? It should have been the rarest one!
What about the tape? What's that limited to? We can't discount that just because it's not vinyl.
taktani17 Rise is clearly trying to cash in on At The Drive In's name (it's the biggest act they've ever signed) and it may come back to bite them. that label has never done this many variants for any of their releases, let alone the sheer amount of copies;...Thats not really true - see Tiger Army's latest release from Rise, quite a bit of variants there too... Whats wrong with having options and exclusivity?
nashuo That's... insane. I've never seen so many variations on a first release so many copies pressed, and they still tag these pressings as "limited editions". that's a joke.

Rise are no strangers to keeping things in print or doing re-pressings, but this is out of control. they have exclusive variants everywhere it seems and ridiculous bundles they're trying to sell for insane pries. that /150 variant is exclusive to a bundle that cost $290 and comes with a guitar pedal and a skateboard deck plus other typical things like t-shirts. there is an Australian exclusive, indie store exclusive, Urban Outfitters exclusive and a few more Merchnow/Rise Records exclusives.
That's... insane. I've never seen so many variations on a first release
