On their 4th album, this Brooklyn band delivers a post-Gothic Western beast with a dark, shuddering breath of drama and danger. If the Birthday Party had been born on a cowboy ranch in Arizona instead of Australia, they might have sounded like this. The guitars twang and reverberate in a viciously desolate rock setting, while taut, anguished vocals seek the release of oblivion. Similarities to The Amazing Snakeheads, The Birthday Party, Shame, Young Widows, Spindrift, Blue Ruin, Sonic Youth, The Cramps. “Shadow On Everything” is a deep, throbbing monster that carries a genuinely creepy, Hellish beauty and power. It should be approached with caution and, if listened to with the lights out, an advance prayer for grace and redemption. Carefully Recommended.
