These days it may seem foolish to buy a live DJ mix when any jock's latest set can be downloaded for free off the net. However, this compilation is worth the price. The quality of the recording is excellent and is definitely accented by Carl's random shouts to the crowd.

Although the first (and superior) Moonshine Music Mixed Live comp shows Carl's ridiculous 3-deck technical skill, the second is a little more straight-forward. Tracks by Slam and Smith & Selway in particular feature breakdowns that make the crowd scream like lunatics, proving that Carl is a master of pacing and tension.

Actually, all the tracks are quality... mainstream-sort of techno that will appeal to both casual listeners and trainspotters. This is to be expected of Carl Cox, who is undoubtedly one of the world's finest DJs.
