Damien Olsen is always evolving. His latest release, First Snow takes you into a journey of unexpected textures, moods and sounds. The first part of the album which is created by the three first tracks, is more melodic. The second part is probably jazzier and has a complex melodic twist.
There's a bit of Kraftwerk, there's a bit of Tangerine Dream in some of its pieces but you won't notice it because the sounds and music will take you immediately to another place, another dimension when you least expected it. And that is what makes Olsen's album so captivating: When you think he is taking you to some place, he will sometimes wrap you slowly into a different atmosphere and leave you wondering . . The layers and the crafting of sounds and how they get tangled in a sometimes-heavy / sometimes-peaceful atmosphere will keep you interested , and wanting more...til next time.
