Another piece of disco promotional history here, this was a huge step forward for the remix. These days, Dan Hartman and Loleatta Holloway (whose vocals are really the only ones you hear on the B-side, thus the credit) are both sadly departed, but John Luongo has recently made himself available for interviews and greater exposure. Thus, some of this releases's story came forward. Luongo, one of the favored remixers of several major labels (especially under the CBS umbrella) claims the B-side here was the first time that someone remixed their own remix, as he had done the mix initially on the these tracks individually. This perhaps explains the idea of a "Progressive Instrumental Remix", which still today seems a radical idea-- you can imagine that the label was happy enough with the original hit version, and probably had no desire for a remix that stripped the artist's vocals out almost completely! It's unlikely that this beautifully stretched out and emotional version would ever have been released were Luongo not such an effective and successful talent with dance and pop songs. A cold killer classic track that holds up today as a testament to the talents of John Luongo, Dan Hartman, and Loleatta Holloway.
