Great release. A1 & A2 are thumping midnight tools whilst B1 could be played at any time as a perfect cushioning track allowing people to warm up, or catch their breath between bangers without loosing their groove. Looking forward to more from Mantra Collective.

Review | David Gtronic ~ 'Patior' Ep [MCR001]

Having established themselves with cutting edge artist tours and romping warehouse raves. Australia's underground champions Mantra Collective now turn their attention to their musical legacy. Launching their vinyl only label with a beastly offering from minimal techno don and Vatos Locos affiliate Gtronic. Exploring a freakishly dark side of Gtronic's sound, the label makes a bold musical statement alongside some visual wizardry from acclaimed Romanian artist Cotė.

Opening A-side cut 'Patior' is a gritty, fast-paced hammer that charges head first into the deep. It's industrial bassline rumbles restlessly beneath pitched electronic wisps and a dense haze of brooding pads. Ghostly vocals slice through the clangor as the sharp regimented click of hi-hats keeps the tempo at full tilt. A murderous groove that'll send dancefloors into a frenzy. Next up is A2's 'Amvian'... a murky sea of hypnosis that sets you adrift in cavernous dubby hues and echoed elemental ripples. That thunderous low-end beat barely keeps you from losing your direction, as a myriad of frequencies wash over you.

Finally, Romanian Vid blends elements off both A-side tracks into an extended mind trip as only the veteran can. Haunting atmospheric tones join an intricate texture of glitches and electronic wisps to create an intoxicatingly nebulous soundscape. It permeates every sense whilst that bone-jarring kick and bassline combo pounds away with muscular force.

Murder on the dancefloor.
