Eulenspygel were one of the earliest bands to play experimental rock with German language lyrics, that is outside of the theatrical polit-rock field. Their two Spiegelei LP's are now well-known classics of the genre. This CD captures the original Eulenspygel in their final days before disintegrating, on WDR radio in 1973, playing in a much more condensed and song focused style. It's quite obvious that the band were trying to find a new direction, and thus the material is quite different to the album versions we know. For starters there are no keyboards, and the guitars and winds fill-in a lot of the gaps normally occupied by keyboards. Distinctive Eulenspygel, but unlike some other WDR documents not so essential.
