Hello people, do you like to travel? I think myself to be a real travel addicted person. Can't stay too long time at one place. I don’t have much time over the last few years to spread my wings and fly somewhere due to family obligations, but at least I try to do it in my imagination and there are definitely some albums that can help me out on that issue. Today I laid my hands on one piece of art that takes me to the cold and dark Sweden. The project's name is Negru Voda , and Negru it is. The master mind behind this project is Peter who is a Swedish resident, but the reference is to the mighty Romanian king Radu Negru, or often called Negru Voda, the one that brought Walachia to the map of Europe somewhere around 10 centuries ago. I don’t know what the original purpose of Peter to call it by that name when he created this side project of Megaptera in early 90's, but I didn’t pay much attention to the music of this project during my music career. By my surprise, I noticed this 3CD release, stuffed with the material from different time line of 20 year’s existence of Negru Voda ,and I decided that this can be a really good opportunity to get acquainted with it closer.

The great advantage of traveling is also getting in touch with the local cuisine. One of my friends said that “In order to make a good industrial music , you have to eat meat before creating it”. What do I like about Romania is their goulash so , those of you, that are into cooking, take a pencil and start to write down the recipe from the industrial kitchen of Peter Nyström.

First of all, if you want your goulash to have a basic taste, you have to remember the roots and where it had come from. The fathers of this taste is S.P.K, Test Dept, The Klinik and they are all inside Peter’s dish for sure . Take heavy ingredients of wrenches hitting pipes , chains beating barrels , harsh factory corrosion and analogue pulsations. Then mix them with some light atmospheres and then shake this substance suddenly with great power.

Secondly , if you want to receive heavier flavor, take a lot of distorted vocals and sampled voices and throw them inside the mixture. Cover all this with mild statics and a soft touch of light feedback is needed from time to time as well.

What did Peter present us after following this recipe, is a really dense and intense industrial of course . It is not easy to digest all of this meal, because it is almost three and a half hours long. Sometimes it was difficult to find the way through the mixture of flavors when the release presents different periods of an artist’s career. I still can’t get used to the sudden changes of mood from one track to the other. I couldn’t keep myself in constant emotion between them, But in general the message passed on. I can confidently say that despite its excessive length and some instability of the music level from time to time, what we have here is one good compilation . And if you invite for cooking with such friends as Magnus Sundström (des Esseintes) , Ulf Söderberg (Sephiroth) and some other, you can assure that your Goulash will taste as supreme Swedish industrial.
