Definitely one for the collection - Disc 1 starts with Searching For Breath - futuristic, detached announcements with intelligent softened beats and continental ambience. Time served is apparent in the clean precise production throughout, reminiscent of Thomas Dolby circa Flat Earth with an element of English dissonance. Court of Myrtles, with similar beats to Fastnet, has bubbles of eastern mystics and stringed instruments gently popping through the ambience. Tumbleweed pulses with an ambient techno beat, interspersed with softened pseudo-announcements of numbers, weather and directions followed by the cool mellowed techno of Zardaska. 141st Street has its jazz funk bass driven by electronic sonics and synth washes while filtered voices alternate with intricate instrumentation. Rotor R2 shows more of Dean’s reminiscent signature bass that drives along the ambient future sounds, keys and echoes of the past. Union Street Station brings voices and bass floating around a sinister rumble, snake like rattles and techno phrasing, an unseen sci-fi soundtrack. Takoyaki is the technocrat and quite European sounding with upbeat bright synth. This is followed by Calle de Cervantes, again reminiscent, this time of a Euro-ambient Yello with a jazzy agit sensibility and a heavy bass bounce. Union Street Station Revisited, a remix by Andrea Belluci, flows fleeting, distorted and fractured radio rolling techno electronique well produced future shortwave radio transmissions with the squelch turned right up. Fastnet Revisited this time remixed by DeepChord is a dub techno club heard from the damp echoey tunnels underneath, populated by the spirits of trance as they whisper around us.

Disc 2 begins with Under Northern Skies and has a recurrent theme in the music leaking memories from the past informing the futurism of its sounds with half heard messages and announcements like a discordant travel guide with gorgeous crisp lush production. Auslander is a jazz influenced train running perfectly on time through the ambient electric suburbs of clean Euroland. The Curve entertains suited in cocktail future jazz bass ambience, smooth and surreal in city streets. Mid Point has us lost in computer space with Dean’s jazz bass as our guide. A Slow Door returns to the funky jazz for an ambient electronic lounge. Axis is a vast open space of the inner soul; whispers and bass drift in and out of its closed openness. Into The Here has an almost krautrock feel in its spells of electric progressiveness. Miodowa reminded me of David Sylvian with staccato strings and Japanese like zen sparseness. Another Place is a half heard story in rolling jazz space while Lakselva is introspective ambience exploring mumbled memories of places and times on the edge of consciousness. Sunart is a fitting conclusion reflective of the morning coming awake after a night in the highly accomplished techno electronic jazz ambience of Nohno.

“Searching for Breath” begins with a pulsating beat and never lets up. This is the track to definitely check out! “Tumbleweed” hints at some of Dean’s previous work when he was part of Clock DVA. This track draws me in and makes me miss the days of early 1990’s Clock DVA but here we have Dean Dennis to provide us some great material that will hold its own. “Rotor R2” lays down some heavy funk styled bass! Just loves where this CD goes back and forth on a number of styles without straying too far. “Fastnet Revisited” closes out the disc and is probably one of my personal favorites. I just totally dig the remix by DeepChord. It has everything I love about DeepChord and Echospace, analogue surface noise that reminds me of driving through the rain with my windows rolled down a bit.
Latitude starts things off nice.. This is very nice laid back track. “The Curve” is another slow and funky track that really connects with “Under Northern Skies”. The spoken word by Elena De Angeli is very interesting on the track “Midowa”. The voice is low and adds a shroud of mystery It gives it a trance-ambient feel. This is very cool indeed. “Sunart” is a very nice piano piece with experimental sounds going on in the background and is a great piece to close out this disc. Pick this release up while it’s still available as pressing is very limited. I will be listening to this release at night hopefully for quite some time.
