I'd like to picture ZEWIZZ sat at home in his jim-jams, in front of a one-bar 'lectric fire, playing Patience with his small black-and-white telly sat in the corner showing "The Flintstones" when his Mum comes in, with boiled eggs, soldiers and a mug of cocoa. "Someone downstairs to see you, Johnny" she says, leaving him to struggle into his tight leather trousers and sweaty black nipple-peeping vest, artificizing love bites on his neck with a pair of pliers before descending the stairs, slipping on the dog's squeaky toy in an effort to gain his Satyromaniac walk. "F**k me, John, what you been up to?". "Oh, the usual daily Shagathon", he glibly replies, rearranging his equipment within the tight leather confines. Who knows, maybe he is a Sex God. Who cares. SLEEP CHAMBER play a simplistic beat-and-bass-sequence music over which sounds drift, saxophones float and JOHN ZEWIZZ intones his kiss-the-whip-and-tell-tales in a growling half whisper. And in a lot of ways, what they do is very effective (Sweet Dreams Sweet has an urgency to it which hints at heightening passion) but stripped of the bondage, sex-obsessed imagery, it's pretty much mainstream sub-Torture Tech fare set at brisk walking-pace BPMs. Want a sample of some of their lyrics? Ok. "She Knows The Power / Of A Golden Shower"; "A Leather-Clad Pussy / Sleek & Long / Obscure & Juicy" - enough? Get the picture? If you're already into what they do, then this new collection of tracks should please - if not, then you might be rewarded by further investigation. For me, the meagre appeal has faded away.
