Stoppenberg - This Is War download mp3 flac

The best album that Stoppenberg has released so far. I love every track.

The previous work Assault is good, but not as good, and the sequel Ultimate Power is weaker, with Frontschlag sadly not being able to hold a candle to This is War. Stomping beats mixed with old-school but powerful EBM base line arrangements, great build-ups, topped by cool speech samples. The trademark of Stoppenberg (and Jan Lehmkämper's other projects) is that all songs have essentially one 4x4 or simply a 2x4 old-school EBM base line arranged with today's sound systems, and at first it may seem to get boring quickly. Except it doesn't. All songs have that typical EBM groove I first came to love with Nitzer Ebb's iconic Belief (1989) and Showtime (1990) albums (think "Control" and "Getting Closer"). This groove simply carries the track along. The more often you listen to these tracks, the more they grow on you. You find small variations in the background soundscape, you feel the build-up, you notice that the track does have progression.

When I first listened to this album, I gave it 2 or 3 stars, depending on the track. When I listened again, I put it up a notch to 3 and 4 stars. Now all tracks have 4 or 5 stars. This is War! is the track that got me hooked. It wouldn't leave my mind for days, and I listened to it again and again.

This albums is great for walking, by the way. Put this on your phone and you will inevitably find yourself swaggering when walking. ;-D
