This is one of those annoying releases that doesn't give information that any genuine collector requires: where recorded and who appears on the recording. T-Bone himself only says something like "Let's thank the group" without - to my hearing ability - announcing who it is that is in the band.

This becomes even more annoying when - out of the blue - comes a fiddle! This comes as a shock at first, but with repeated listening it blends in with the rest of the band - but WHO IS PLAYING IT?

Over on the Allmusic site, Daniel Graham has done quite a Sherlock Holmes job on researching details of this recording. Although he seems to have the recording date and location wrong (not his fault as his logic is sound, but the information he had to work from was insufficient) he has done an excellent job, though the recording date could affect his conclusion that Paul Pena is the guitarist on the recording.

The recording was made, according to the only real information provided on my CD sleeve, was 1968 which places the recording as being made in Paris (according to Daniel's information.

Is it worthwhile having this CD?

Given that I only paid $US 2.95 at "The Book Bin" in Corvallis Oregon, I guess almost any recording was worth the gamble. But, despite this, I think it is an interesting document if anyone would like to hear T-Bone in concert. The recording quality is quite good - despite the fact that Walker walks away from the Mike at times, thus his voice fades (this is whilst talking, not singing).

The answer to the question is yes, it is a worthwhile CD. I don't know that I would pay "full price" for a copy, but it more than justified my modest investment.

I do wish that record companies would consider the consumers of their product and make available to them the information I am sure they have on recording dates and personnel. It's not too much to ask is it?
