Among Tesla's strongest. Tracks show maturity by way of different sounds and a patience to let the songs progress. Tesla still sounds hungry, yet grounded in hard rock tradition. My primary complaint is that years of touring with Def Leppard have inspired Tesla to layer choruses in Mutt Lange fashion. That aside, California Summer Song rocks a laid-back acoustic groove; Shock, Taste Like and The Mission rock with the best of Tesla's past releases, and two slower tracks (We Can Rule the World and Forever Loving You) have enough punch to stay well above the kind of trite power ballad that has hastened Aerosmith's demise. Top to bottom, Shock is a solid album.
wow, wish i could un-hear this travesty of an album. glam metal should be dead like disco
There's literally two songs on the album that could qualify as "ballads," and those two tracks (We Can Rule the World and Forever Loving You) are not bad. But even if they weren't up to par, they represent 1/6 of the album. What about the other 5/6? Seems like you might be hitting the skip button on your streaming music service instead of listening to the album.
Still using the 90's playbook. Dissapointed.. Any Tesla fans left are fans of their hard rock sound.. no one wants you hear rock ballads anymore..
