Is it only me but the production on this single is really quiet? I have to really turn it up on my hi fi to enjoy this record.... I guess a mistake at the mastering stage?? Comments please...

I haven't heard this in 30 odd years ..but yes the tracks did seem to 'lack punch' & I recall thinking ' sounds like a Demo'..12" releases did not always = louder & clearer for 'punk era tracks'.. Eater 'lock it up',Thunders /Heartbreakers 'Memory & Chinese rocks',Saints 'This perfect day' & various other Damned releases..i wasn't aware there had been a 12" release of this good e.p. ...Although after the excellent run of releases '79-'80 on the bands return this did seem rather 'average' ? ..& pointed to the bands future....

Ha. Yes I believe it's due to fitting two tracks per side. Level has to be set lower for the mastering engineer to cut the grooves properly. Or else the grooves may touch causing the needle to jump and skip. I'm looking your the 12 inch version just for that reason. Louder!!!! Ha. Peace!
