The Indian Givers - Love Is A Lie download mp3 flac

An album I picked up out of curiosity, assuming it was an 80s female fronted sort've thing. I mean, the girl is in the middle on the sleeve, right? Well, it wasn't/isn't, but it's still not half bad. If you're a fan of 80s, Northern synth-pop/pop-rock, then help yourself - it should go down a treat! The songs are quite well-written, in an adult contemporary sort've way; down tempo, intelligent, sensitive and melancholic for the most part. 'It's A Wonderful Life' is a standout, with it's building crescendo of M.O.R. drum patterns, and 'Love Come Down' raises the tempo slightly, sounding very radio-friendly for 1989. Prefab Sprout spring to mind, as do Deacon Blue. Overall, not a bad way to spend 49 minutes, which is as high praise as The Indian Givers are ever likely to receive I dare say. Oh, the girl does get a spot on the mic, taking lead vocals (rather than her usual back-up) on track 10, 'Caprice'. 5.5/10
