The B1 mix was regularly, if not always, the last record of the night played by dj Monkey Pilot at the 'Whirl-y-Gig' in the early 1990's. The club ran for over a decade from Shoreditch Town Hall in now fashionable Hoxton, London. This family friendly club night, where under twelve year olds got in free, was held every Saturday, finishing at the extraordinarily early time of midnight. If you ran you could just catch the last tube home from Old Street station. The crowd always knew what was coming when they heard the squeaky twisting acid noise at the beginning of this track and everyone would find a good spot to dance, preferably at the front of the stage near the speakers. This is probably the most unashamed uplifting piano track ever made. Perfect for it’s time but now sadly dated. Would be nice to hear it out again one day.
Amen! Got this on 12" eventually, just for the memories :)
Long live the Whirl-Y-Gig :))
