Disappointing press. My disc looked NM, but plays with surface noise on several tracks as well as distortion. Based on feedback here looks like I'm not the only one.

My copy has a fair bit of surface noise, pops and crackles here and there. Left channel has some constant static in a few spots on side A. It sounds okay overall. Nothing to write home about. Gray vinyl is also pretty ugly. Ha ha.

A pretty standard pressing from VMP. Sound quality is pretty good. Even with a little surface noise and the usual things, it's not a huge detriment. Music is nice enough, but I've never been too hot on The National in the first place. Packaging is above most standard pressings, but I mean it's not exactly as good as some of the previous months. Record color is a little bland too, but I guess I'll take sound quality over anything else should that be the case. All in all, it's decent release from VMP, but it seems to be more about having the album rather than having a special version of it. They've done better.

You would have to really listen to the LP to know that gray is actually the perfect colour for this one! :-)

Was going to switch this album out since I could never get into this band. So glad I did not do that. Great album and enjoyable listen. Some pops and clicks even after ultrasonic cleaning although it did reduce surface noise substantially.

Can anyone compare the sound on this to the Beggars yellow vinyl Jonz cut?

I haven't heard any of the earlier pressings, but I'm very satisfied with this one. The instrumentation comes through clear and not too soft. Also gray is the perfect color for this record.

Just spinning this today. I have a 2007 black pressing that I'm already pretty familiar with. Although I was hesitant about this one, I'm glad it's in my collection now. This pressing is much more detailed and the instruments have some seperation to them. It seems to be cut a little louder. All in all, a really nice job this time around.

Decent enough sounding pressing. Not spectacular (don't have an original copy to compare to howevet). Standard VMP issue, shame they haven't replicated the quality of their recent Fiona Apple release which was very very good indeed. Vinyl not flat, assuming slight warping due to the 7inch it came packed with. Didn't seem to provide too much wow upon playback.

Thanks for this note. I've had mine sealed for over a year and just opened it to discover the same warping.

Update. A year on. A disappointing release. VMP struggle with quality consistency. That's why I stopped my subscription. Inner groove distortion on side b of this release, isn't good. 2 VMP realeses were acceptable from my experience with them. This was not one of them. They are a good record club in the old fashioned way. They just don't turn out high quality consistently.
