POISON COLA from sendai are, Indeed, top notch 90's Japanese hardcore. I wasn't too big of a fan of their tracks on the BLOOD FEAST split but this slab has me reconsidering. there's definitely a discrete records sound to this band on the a-side (awesome!) but they branch off into a more contemporary japanese hc sound as the record progresses. perhaps not as crucial as the greats, but if this had come out in the early 00's when hakodate, hokkaido masters CRUDE and MUSTANG were just starting to get attention internationally and japanese hc was the flavor of the month then this would be a pretty well regarded gem. the final track, "believe in true words" even has a very CRUDE guitar line and vocal style, before CRUDE even had it.
fans of ACCOMPLICE, BALANCE, EATA, HAMMER, etc. that are looking for an uncovered jewel of traditional japanese hardcore should act fast in snagging one of these.
