Although already four years old, this album really reminds us why Tom Middleton should be regarded as one of the premier "thinkers" in music out there. Anyone can throw some tracks together and make a mix. Some might do it better than others. And a few might actually make it original and unique. But Tom is one of the only people in existence who doesn't just throw stuff around, and doesn't get lucky - his knowledge of music spans generations and cultures, and his own ability to produce music has lent him the ability to create a mix like The Trip. One shouldn't describe this album in terms of the genres or artists represented - because that part doesn't really matter. It's the FEELING you get hearing these tracks fade and cut into each other, the overall journey you have taken, from track 1 to track 46 - that is what's important. If you liked Orbital's Back To Mine mix, then this is a no brainer, and it takes that concept to new heights. Buy, enjoy, and share with others.
