I am not enthusiastic about the sound of the vinyl. It sounds a bit pinched or compressed. There is sufficient bass but I miss dynamics and it is not sparkling. I am not sure if this is specifically related to the vinyl, too many songs per side, or to the mastering. I am not able to compare it with the CD sound.

This original LP release sounds better then the original CD release, which I also have here. You hear more details and I think it has also more dynamics. The bass espacially is great.

I’ve loved this band since seeing them on a tv show in the late 70’s in N. Ireland but as U2 records go.. this is shite... sorry.!

Wow, this sounds really nice. I always thought the sound of both the initial CD version and the remastered CD version were much to dense and compressed, surely owed to the very "fat" multi-track production. This vinyl version sounds much more open and wide, drums and bass guitar i.e. on "So cruel" are so alive and kicking.

It is from 1991 so, it's a bit too early for being a remasterr as it is the original vinyl.

Referencing Achtung Baby LP Translucent Vinyl U28 510347-1The cover is poor coloured, but the record's sound is fine, I have re-issue Netherland and no have much different, rich bass, light trebles.Track A1 have a hum aat beging the song.

U2 never was a rock'n'roll band in the early Stones sense of the genre, they were and are a pop band. Their early records do sound like the 80`s, little cheesy but very popular. Good music, reaches far, and carry mild political "soft riot" messages. It works. U2 is purifying music, puts you in a nice contemplative mood, it flows and you're feeling good.Every old band went through changes in their career to update software and hardware. Depeche Mode is a good example or the U2. I grew up on my dad's early hard rock tapes went through goa and now into experimental electronica, I do like this electro-pop-rock U2, same little cheese as in the 80's but rich. So I don't see the point blaming them for playing popular music. It's not politics after all, being a populist in music, if it's honest, is totally acceptable. U2 sounds true, it's genuine, honest music. My favorite song on this album is Acrobat. it's simple, powerful, emotional, all you need from the modern Western Pop-Zen

No, they are a rock band, not a pop band. Micheal jackson, katy perry, madonna, etc are pop! So stop your nonsense

One of the most overrated rock albums of all time. I just can't get into this no matter how hard I try. One of the biggest let-downs for me are the lyrics. There's just so very little substance contained in them. I consider "The Fly" the best track here, but its lyrics are just throwaway. Even as late as the Joshua Tree, U2's stories had political and social depth, though the pretentiousness had started creeping in by then. But this album is almost full-blown pretense. Overplayed, nauseating crap like "One" signaled the end of meaningful commentary.Musically, there's too much electronics; they were never a synth band. What makes their early albums enjoyable now is that they don't sound like 80s albums -- they're pure rock and roll. And although Achtung Baby does not exactly sound 20 years old, it still sounds more dated than their earliest efforts, mainly due to the instrumentation and production.

If you haven't closed the door on Achtung Baby, you might take a look at Steve Catanzarite's entry in the 33 1/3 series on the album. http://333sound.com/2011/07/28/bono-steve-catanzarites-33-13-on-achtung-baby/ It explores the album as about the Fall of man (the title 'Adam' was considered for the album) as The Edge was going through his divorce.

Actually, I couldn't disagree more. Achtung Baby, while a departure from their earlier works in terms of its style, nevertheless kept the band's political and social relevance and potency, especially with tracks like One, while redefining what a U2 album could sound like. It is one of the best albums they have done before or since, and one of the coolest also.

Hello TeenageFC,grow up. TeenageFCIf you don't like it...don't commentThat's a stupid attitude.Personally, I disagree with Globe199's comment, but yet it's totally legit to voice their opinion. And it might be useful to some users.Your comment, however, is like saying: "If you don't like a comment...don't reply".
