Eight years after the debut Manuál and in the wake of the film Alois Nebel, the unexpected Christmas hit “Půlnoční” (Midnight Mass) and Václav Neckář’s comeback album Dobrý časy (Good Times), Jaromír 99, Dušan Neuwerth, Jan P. Muchow, Jura Hradil and Tomáš Neuwerth are back as Umakart with ten new cuts on the album Vlci u dveří (Wolves at the Door).

The album was presaged by the slightly subversive summer single “A venku zase prší” (It’s Raining outside again). The lyrics for eight songs were written by Jaromír 99, two by the poet Jan Těsnohlídek. The original visual presentation was created by Bára Prášilová, holder of the Czech Grand Design award, while the unusual sleeve is the handiwork of the Ex Lovers studio.

“The album pretty much refers to the housing estate milieu, with its typical gambling dens, weirdos, strange loves. And amidst the wolves waiting to prey on your weakness and error, ready to tear you to pieces. Not nice at first glance. But we all know the milieu very well, have it under our skin. A bit of nostalgia, a bit of glowing reality,” says Jaromír 99. “It is a sort of urban folklore. Including traditional local costumes.”

The album will come in a special box, which will also contain five posters with portraits of the band’s members. Its title and the name of the formation will be written by hand by the musicians and graphic designers, who may leave their personal messages, which makes every disc singular indeed.
