The Archive Series is unique. For pure musical pleasure, for educational or reference purposes, it has never been equaled. The series begins with the inception of the Western tradition in music (c. 700 A.D.) and concludes at the beginning of the Romantic period, 1100 years later. These modern recordings (mono or stereo) represent the ultimate in technical excellence. The artists performing on authentic instruments of the period and with original versions of the scores, are among the most acclaims of our time. Each recording is prefaced by lengthy and intense musicological research, as is witnessed in part by the details given on the indes card with accompanies each album.

The Archive Series is divided into twelve research periods. These are sub-divided into sections comprising groups of works, types, individual composers, etc. For example, the works of Johann Sebastian Bach alone (Research Period IX) now are represented on more than 80 albums in 12 different section, such as Passions and Oratorios, Organ Works, Keyboard Works, Instrumental Concertos, Cantatas, and others.
