Joel Goldsmith (1957-2012) (son of Jerry) scored the 1986 movie Crystal Heart, and two of his instrumental cues from the film are featured on this soundtrack album. Crystal Heart Theme is a moody and melodic piece of electronic music, while Breaking Free Theme is more dramatic and intense. Two examples of brilliant scoring for synthesizers, in that charming Tangerine Dream/Harold Faltermeyer 1980s kind of way.

The remaining 10 tracks on the album are an eclectic mix of pop and rock, mostly performed by rather unknown artists. The exception are the two songs by Jay Ferguson, former member of Spirit. His songs are in the tried and true American rock genre, and to be honest he hasn't got the strongest voice. Interestingly, these two songs may be the last time Ferguson wrote and performed vocal rock music like this. After the release of this album, he switched over to composing electronic film scores, not unlike the tracks by Goldsmith on this album.

Andrea Robinson are represented with no less than three tracks here, but the most interesting non-instrumental tracks on the record are probably Crossing Over by Dennis Churchill and Actions Speak Louder by Baxter Robertson, the latter sounding a bit like Genesis/Phil Collins. Castles In The Sand by Jeff Neiman is the typical ballad here.

This soundtrack was never released on CD, and the vinyl received a release only in Mexico, Spain and Italy, for some reason.
