In the last two years the 'Nuit Arabe' concerts at the Melkweg have become legendary. A young international audience was spelled by the power and musical skill of the artists in an exciting ambiance. This cassette features some of the highlights with five famous raï-singers from the Maghreb. 'Cheb' means 'young' in Arab and modern raï-music with its rebellious attitude reflects the mind of a young Arab generation in North Africa and Europe. Originating from traditional Bedouin songs, it evolved into electric dance music with influences from Andalusian music, funk, rock and reggae. Raï is coming and ready to move you!
