Just wanted to add that in my opinion this 2x12 brings to light some of the most important works in modern electronic music. Considering 1984-88 was quite a while ago in the acid techno game, before every hillbilly had access to computer programs full of presets, there was Brian Dougans creating the grit and dirt on hardware. This compilation is a glimpse into the rhythmic depths of machine language, where analogs, splice and dice TB-303, TR-606, drugged out vocals, space sounds, and twisted sequenced sine waves go places yet uncharted. Every sound is Flanged, Phased, Filtered, Echoed, Dosed, and Worked. This music is probably more scary sounding now, than it was in 1984. I hope listeners are afraid of these sounds, because I don't want this to be accepted by the boring world. This is:--------Dark------Industrial-------Dub--------Acid------Experimental-------Noise-------BreakBeat------Techno-------. Rephlex stepped up to the plate and hit home by making this available to the struggling underground. Give us hope! Lets try to catch up to the sounds created 25+ years ago.

It's still amazing how much creativity is in these tracks, acid would not be a dead genre if there would be released more such crazy and weird stuff. I can't believe that all this music was made over 15 years ago, the whole compilation is definitely an obligation for everyone's collection who is looking constantly for high quality stuff. Since the decline of acid house I didn't listen so much to music made by the TB 303 (except Richie Hawtin/UR/Red Planet), here is a reason for me to change my mind. And a reason for such a label as Rephlex to publish all that classic again. Hard music for nowadays but fine!

This is prototype Techno. Although the original tracks were recorded in different studios and only a few public appearances are selected , this got the feel of a good DeeJay's mix . 23 acid tunes put together and pressed on 4 pieces of vinyl or one cd . Fantastic soundquality and good cover art make this a collectors choice . Highly recommended
