Unlike some of the later VX releases there is absolutely no Christmas feeling to be found on this one. Similarily there are no greetings or fun comments from the artists, but instead a massive attempt at a megamix of more than 20 of the label tracks, mainly from the most recent output.

Barkland has indeed grabbed a big bite of the catalogue and tries to chew it into a mere 12 minutes, but it ends up sounding like a messy label promotion sampler with short snippets stitched together without much finess or care. Granted it is not easy blending dreamy synthpop with raw industrial electronics, but it is obvious what this is all about, showcasing the hottest acts of Energy in '94. Still this is great nostalgia value and keeps me smiling every time I hear it, but these classics should have been treated with more care.
